Founder Story
Built on Service, Leadership, and Community
Vanguard Veteran Housing was founded by Sam Owens, a longtime University of Minnesota coach, community leader, and real estate developer.
Growing up in military housing as the son of a veteran shaped his understanding of the importance of community, stability, and opportunity. Today, that experience continues to influence the mission behind Vanguard Veteran Housing.
After decades leading nationally recognized programs focused on teamwork, leadership, and mentorship, Sam transitioned into real estate development with a focus on creating housing that serves people and strengthens neighborhoods.
